Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a structured, evidence-based approach to therapy that focuses on the role of emotion in shaping connection, attachment, and psychological well-being. Developed by Dr Sue Johnson, EFT is grounded in attachment theory and supported by over three decades of clinical research.
Originally developed for couples, EFT is now widely used with couples, individuals, and families. It helps people understand and reshape the emotional patterns that create conflict, distress, or disconnection in relationships. Instead of examining surface-level disagreements, EFT explores our deeper emotions and unmet attachment needs. By working with these underlying patterns, EFT creates space for healing, trust, and deeper connection.
